Foods That Cause Constipation

The simplest reason why disease starts at the colon is simple. Our intestine store foods and takes out nutrients from foods and distribute it to the body. What remain are the solid foods that are not needed by our body. It generally retains in our colon and we only excrete through bowel movements a portion of those foods that are not needed by our body. The result? Toxins developed. The typical problem is that even if we eliminate our bowel regularly, our colon requires a thorough cleansing periodically. Those who have lesser bowel movements mean bigger chance of developing a disease. If you want to lose weight and have a better life, start cleansing your colon. Avoid a food that promotes constipation. What are those? The foods that I’m going to discuss below are the highest contributing factor that stops you in achieving a healthier colon.

•    Meat (beef and pork) these two slows down the digestive process probably because of its gum like texture which is very hard to digest.
•    Potatoes and corn because of its too much starch content.
•    Cheese, breads and pasta because of large culprit
•    Hamburgers, Fries and something like that of a fast food meal. Because of its little nutrition that makes it hard for our body to work properly
•    Milk because of too much mucus that interferes with natural mucosal lining of our colon.
•    Pies, cakes, cookies and the likes. Because it slough our system and develops a low energy in the long term.

Do not forget that the foods low in fiber can also cause constipation. A low fiber food is the key to make you constipated everyday. If you want to be free from constipation, minimize eating foods that are low in fiber. Foods that are low in fibers are the following: Hydrogenated foods such as ice cream, meat fats and whole milk are very low in fiber. Processed foods, such as refined white flour, white rice, sugar, cake and pastries because the natural fibers of processed foods have been removed. Tetra pack snack foods fall into this category. It is just normal that every one of us sometimes experience constipation. It maybe due to change in activity from active lifestyle to inactive body. It is also good that we have to keep moving. If an exercise is not tolerated, simple household chores will do. This is to keep our system to function normally. Poor and imbalance diet also worsen constipation.

It is no just solid foods that keep us constipated. Non-nutritional drinks such as alcohol, coffee, soft drinks and refined fruit juices can also worsen constipation. Alcohol losses sodium and potassium in the body thus when we are insufficient of sodium and potassium, we also lost electrolyte in the body and constipation follows there after. Coffee slow down the normal peristalsis movement of our intestine. Soft drinks are full of sugar and carbon that can also interfere with constipation. Refined fruit juices just like ice cream the natural fiber of fruits has been remove. Low intake of water causes constipation. We should drink 8 to 12 glasses of water a day to keep us fit, healthy and free ourselves from constipation.
