Psyllium husk is it good or bad for the body?

Colon News

Psyllium husk is derived from a seed of Plantago Ovata which is very high in soluble fiber. Because of its high content in dietary fiber, psyllium husk become the choice of many dietary supplements. Psyllium when taken orally followed by drinking large amount of water form a gelatinous mass that keep waste materials soft. Aside from that it also promotes contraction of the intestinal wall.

If you want to become healthy, take note of these three requirements, sufficient nutrient intake, proper elimination of toxins and exercise. If our body accumulates toxins, we experience headache, body malaise and loss of energy. Over the years of accumulation, this will lead to serious illness like colon cancer, hemorrhoids, colitis and other illness related to toxicity.

Psyllium husk is a pure source of dietary soluble fiber composed mainly of hemicellulose. These kinds of fiber are not digested in the small intestine. They are broken down in the colon and feed on the intestinal flora or the good bacteria. Sufficient friendly bacteria in our colon will help to normalize peristaltic movement. There are also other ways to feed good bacteria like drinking cultured products or yogurt. But this is not effective since good bacteria content of cultured products are destroyed before they reach our colon. Unlike Psyllium husk where it reaches the colon and feed the good bacteria. Psyllium husk also absorb toxins, water and other waste materials from the colon forming it into a mass for easier toxic evacuation.

Psyllium husk are non habit forming. Meaning you can take it everyday without the fear of being dependent to it. Consider the benefits of Psyllium husk; it promotes regular bowel movement without being dependent on it. It removes toxins and improves digestion for better health. It also lower cholesterol level and maintains its normal health level by balancing blood sugar. It stops diarrhea and reserve colon health. Psyllium husk is definitely good for the body.  But as the saying goes, not everything is for everyone. Psyllium husk also has its disadvantage. Like when you are suffering from irritable bowel syndrome should not be taking Psyllium husk. It has been noted that those who are suffering from IBS and had taken Psyllium husk had worsen the situation. But in general, Psyllium husk is good for health.
